slumdogssssssssss

Now i gotta write this one........ACADEMY AWARDS OR THE OSCARS.....as it is more commonly known...Everytime a movie wins this one theres so much of hype created .....so much is said...some on the brighter side ...n some noto sunny...but nevertheless the movie attains its primary goal..publicity...so we have this movie called SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRRE sweep us off our feet.We just can't have enough of it.They say finally Indians and India have arrived and so there should be every reason for us(Indians) to celebrate n feel proud n people actually are very happy over here. They just cannot stop complementing Danny Boyle and his GREAT PIECE OF WORK.But wait a minute...what did I say..great piece of work....Folks before you believe my words and start feelin happy,I want to ask you people somethin...Does an ACADEMY AWARD guarantee greatnesss.I mean to say can a movie a movie be deemed great or not just because it has or has not won the OSCARS .If that is the case then movies like THE RAGING BULL,TAXI DRIVER and SHAWSHANKS REDEMPTION have no place in history and greatness.....But I ll tell you what....Bo matter how many osacrs a SLUMDOG wins you cannot convince someone like me that it is a greater piece of work than a RAGING BULL or a GODFATHER....The awards are a big sham..It has always been like this.....It has failed to recognise movies that have had enormous impact on society and has shamelessly heaped recognition on movies..well....which necessarily if not bad are not great either.....Now for example....let us draw a comparision..The godfather won 3 academy awards....Slumdog....8......So there should not be any comparision at all...am i a pervert tryin to draw a comparision............Slumdog wins hands down............... but how can that be possible....Who can forget that epic mafia tale of the Corleone family.......More than three decades after it was first showcassed......people still talk about Marlon Brando's amazing potrayal of Vito Corleone and Al Pacino's billiant essay of Michael Corleone....Time and again film makers across the globe have tried to recreate that magic (only to fail miserably....like to quote the name of ram gopal verma)....And now when I think about Slumdog ..I can't even remember the names of the characters and so i suppose is the case with most of the people........greatness isnt decided by a walk on the red carpet or by an emotional speech on the podium(remeber Halle Berry and her awful cryin....)...Its decided by the way you ve touched people and affected them..It took the Academy more than three decades to recognise someone like Martin Scorcese(RAGING BULL & TAXI DRIVER),arguably america's finest film maker....Finally he won it last year for THE DEPARTED.....But Scorcese never needed the Oscars to be deemed great....He was already there irrespective of an oscar or not.....It was infact the Academy which needed Scorcese's name in a list which features one shot directors like Mel Gibson.....So finally when he won it they said ...It was not Scoecese's redemption.....It was the A cademy's redemption..........so folks please do not get overjoyed....I know lot of you will have lot to say against me....qoutes like "saala firangi","angrez ka aulaad"........but you know what i dont even give a damn...............Watchin and recognisin quality movies ia a piece of art...I believe and I guess I am lucky to have attained that art and that artist inside of me says just one damn thing.........Slumdog's no better than a single watch........N Danny Boyle can go to hell as far as I am concerned..........
